The Brazilian Music Foundation will present a concert in tribute to the legendary composer Camargo Guarnieri,
April 25, 8:00 pm, at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater at Symphony Space, 250 West 95th St, New York City.

Tânia Camargo Guarnieri and pianist
Max Barros performing the Violin Sonatas Nos. 4, 5, and 6 by the celebrated Brazilian composer. This event is a rare and significant tribute to one of Brazil's most important musical voices, bringing together two artists deeply connected to his legacy. As the composer's daughter, Tânia Camargo Guarnieri carries an intimate, personal understanding of her father's music, while Max Barros, renowned for his dedication to recording Guarnieri's complete piano works, brings an unmatched depth of interpretation. Their collaboration offers a profound and authentic exploration of these sonatas, celebrating the richness of Brazilian classical music and ensuring that Guarnieri's work continues to inspire new generations.

Luiz Simas releases new song honoring indigenous people of Brazil

Brazilian musician
Luiz Simas has released his new song and music video honoring the indigenous peoples of Brazil. “Canção dos Povos Originários” (Song for the Original Peoples) was recorded in New York, Rio de Janeiro, and Porto Alegre, with Simas on piano, vocals and keyboards,
Carlos Malta on flute,
Julia Haughton on vocals, and
Paulo Roberto Brandão on additional keyboards. Brandão also mixed and mastered the track.
The very unusual song lyrics consist solely of the names of a few of the hundreds of indigenous tribes of Brazil. The music video and animation were created by
Leon Vilhena and
Duda Ásfora of the Lisbon-based company, Intermitente.

Henrique Eisenmann have released their performance of three new compositions,
Three Orcas Island Songs, from their recent concert on Orcas Island, Washington.
“Lamento de Aioca” is named for the Goddess of the Waters in the Yoruba tradition of the people in the Northeast of Brazil. “Pina” is a song by Henrique inspired by and dedicated to legendary choreographer Pina Bausch. “Kalimba Rhapsody” is the finale of the Paul Winter Consort's new “Adventures in the Universe,” which was premiered at its recent Summer Solstice Celebration at New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
